92205 1965-05-01 Castleford Lumley Hill

It took some detective work to determine that this was on ex-NER metals at the Lumley Hill area of Castleford, just west of the town as seen in May 1965. Just beyond the bridge (carrying the ex-L&YR Methley branch from Cutsyke) is Whitwood Junction where the lines diverge right to Leeds or continue west towards Normanton. Both locos are facing Castleford, BR Ivatt '4MT' 2-6-0 No. 43043 light engine and BR Riddles 'Standard 9F' No. 92205 with a bogie flat wagon train.
Built at Horwich in Sept. 1949 (43043) and Swindon in May 1959 (92205) they were withdrawn in October and June 1967 respectively.
