How fortunate we are that this classic example of a North Eastern Railway locomotive (designed by Wilson Worsdell) has passed into preservation. Better still is that it's in working order and not suffering the fate of being 'stuffed and mounted'. 'P3' (LNER 'J27') 65894 is seen on the regular 'pick-up' freight at Gilling Station, North Yorkshire in the 1960s. Gilling closed along with the Malton to Pilmoor route in July 1964.
