With 10202 and, in the distance D2506 which seemed to spend an awful lot of time in Derby Works, not withdrawn until 1970 and certainly re-painted with yellow end chevrons after this date.

Peter Kerslake says "A sad image from May of 1964 with one of the former L.M.S. twin Diesels 10000 here at Derby having been officially withdrawn from service in early February of 1963 in company with the second of the three former Southern Region Diesels in the shape of 10202, still officially in use at this date but now in company with its two classmates spending most of its time languishing here at Derby with increasing maintenance needs taking all three out of action for considerable periods of time until all three were finally condemned in February of 1968."
