A sad reminder of its previous life , poor old 10000 , the first of the two Midland Region Diesels , looks folorn and unwanted stored out of use here at Derby , its former birthplace , in August of 1966 following withdrawal from service in early February of 1963 ,and now awaiting its final trip to Cashmores at Great Bridge for disposal in January of 1968.
Its sister engine , 10001 lasted in service three years longer , however , being condemned in March of 1966 before being scrapped at Cox and Danks at Acton in February of 1968.
The second of the Southern Region's three Diesels in the shape of 10202 awaits a similar fate
