No.10000 was completed only three weeks before the LMS was nationalised and hence carried cast LMS insignia on its sides. Here it is pictured in the shed yard at Derby in 1948 taking on fuel from the hosepipe draped across the tracks. The family resemblance of the first ten British Railways 'Peaks' to the two LMS prototypes is easy to see.
