6000 1975-04-26 Chester-RObwL-1709-342
Without a more precise date it's difficult to identify this location , but clearly 6000 is on one of the special workings undertaken during the period given.br/ The condition of 6000 indicates this could possibly be when it was fresh from receiving new colours whilst at Messrs . Walker and Williams of Bridgnorth in late 1979 , its first outing thereafter apparently being on the quot; Deeside Venturer quot; which it worked from Hereford to Chester on 4th . October , 1980 , so yes , this could possibly be at Chester as suggested.br/ br/Agree with Peterrsquo;s suggestion of location. The date I believe is a lot earlier, 26 April 1975. On that day hundreds of enthusiasts and photographers descended on Chester to witness the arrival of two steam hauled railtours from Hereford, hauled by 6000 amp; 35028. 6000 worked in from Hereford on the Merchant Navy Locomotive Preservation Society ldquo;Return to Steam No.3rdquo; and returned on the Mamp;GNJRS ldquo; The Mayflowerrdquo;. 35028 working the other two legs to amp; from Herefordbr/ See:
