The centenary celebrations of Doncaster's ex-GNR 'Plant' (1953-1953) were celebrated when the two magnificent ex-GNR Ivatt 'Atlantics', 'C2' class No. 990 and 'C1' class No. 251 were restored to steam and double headed from King's Cross to Doncaster on 20th September 1953. A repeat run from Leeds Central to King's Cross the following week is captured here at Doncaster on Sunday 27th September 1953 as the pair prepare for departure. Oh to have been there!
