Gas Turbine No.18000 near Uffington with a down express on March 30, 1955.

Peter Kerslake adds the details "18000 continued working on the Bristol line until November of that year. By the end of 1955 records show that it had been fitted with no less than 17 combustion chambers within its gas turbine propulson unit, a weakness in design which persisted throughout its working life and which was never satisfactorily resolved despite the best efforts of the technicians at Swindon. 18000 was out of service for a General Overhaul at Swindon for virtually the whole of 1956."
