Up goods

Western Region tank engines didn't come much bigger than this, a fine picture of Cardiff Cathay shed's 7242 showing to advantage its 2- 8- 2 wheel arrangement as she heads what is undoubtably a substantial freight into Bath Spa.
The size of the coal bunker is impressive and 7242 has in all probability come up from Wales and through the Severn Tunnel on her run eastwards.
The train consists of a uniform rake of 3 plank wagons, their sides split into two seperate drop sides and are loaded with concrete sleepers fitted with chairs. They look brand new so are probably on their way to a Pre Assembly Depot (PAD), possibly the one at Swindon opposite the works.
