Nicely cut back banks here at the western approach to Newton Abbot station as Brush 1595 heads eastwards from the Plymouth line with the Torquay and Kingswear tracks on the far left . This image indicates how useless the Reporting Numbers became as things deteriorated as this one displayed on 1595 does not appear to make much sense , but those in command seemed to change the codes at every opportunity , a practice which unfortunately started to become apparent during the final years of steam operations on the Western Region. That looks to be newly built gantry for future colour light signals in the background
