48267 1965-12 Gloucester Central

Peter Kerslake writes "December 1965 would see the end of steam operations on the Western Region but this late image of 48267 revives memories of the wide range of both LMR and Western Region steam motive power that worked through Gloucester at that time. This is the South Wales end of Gloucester's Central station , and 48267 has come up from South Wales and over the bridge above Northgate Street. That is not Gloucester Cathedral 's spire catching the sunlight but the local church. There may be a change of the footplate crew, and almost certainly a refill for the tender when they halt adjacent to Horton Road depot at the far end of the station, the load looking like empty iron ore or coal open wagons."
