BR DMU No E79151 on a Bradford Exchange-Leeds Central service.
This is just outside Bradford Exchange, the overbridge in the background carries Caladonia Street over the railway and the train is just about to pass over Mill Lane, the parapet for the bridge can be seen on the right of the picture. The 40 mile post (from Manchester Victoria) visible on the right no longer exists, but the one on the other side of the line is still in position by Mill Lane signal box. The train itself which is about to turn off towards St Dunstans, is not as might be expected one of the Leeds-Bradford two car sets, but turns out to be one of the Newcastle area four car sets running without a trailer second as a three car set, presumably in connection with some sort of trials or testing; it has a blank destination panel and there are no passengers aboard.
