1003 1957-06-13 Shrewsbury
County class 4-6-0 No 1003 County of Wilts approaches Shrewsbury station with an up slow on June 13, 1957.
Peter Kerslake says "One of six of its class allocated in the mid 'fifties to Shrewsbury Motive Power Depot, that establishment having an equal number to Bristol Bath Road, with the remaining 18 being spread as far west as Penzance with three there and two at neighbouring Truro.
Shrewsbury's "Counties" were regular performers in the mid ' fifties on the "North to West" rosters, working in company with that Depot's "Castles" and sharing those duties with Newton Abbot, working outwards one day and back the next with the same footplatemen lodging overnight."
