31512 1960-09-24 Allhallows on Sea

The REC 'North Kent Railtour' special at Allhallows on 24th September 1960 with H class 31512 and three coaches. Note the wide platform, smart station sign and extensive canopy, ready to cater for the crowds that only materialised on sunny summer weekends. When opened in 1932, the station consisted of just one shorter platform, a run-round loop and a single siding. The whole station was enlarged with a second platform and another run-round loop in 1934, plus doubling of the line as far as Stoke Junction to allow two trains to pass each other. This second line was taken out of use in 1957 and removed in 1959.
