The P.Way is in immaculate condition at the beginning of the war as GWR Castle class 4-6-0 No 5086 Viscount Horne approaches Dolphin Junction, Slough with a Paddington to Bristol semi-fast on May 5, 1940.
Starch Products factory (STADEX Works) behind the train - which was much expanded in the 1950s. The wagons contained maize in sacks from Belgium and Holland - tripped from Acton yard. St Mary's Rd bridge in the background.
