GWR Castle class 4-6-0 No 5097 Sarum Castle at Dawlish on an up express in 1953.

Peter Kerslake says "This is almost certainly a West to North working for Shrewsbury's 5097 Sarum Castle, the engine and its crew working back home from Newton Abbot through to Shrewsbury having worked down the previous day. Shrewsbury used its Castles and Counties on these trains, sharing the duties with engines and crews from Newton Abbot where in the mid-1950s there were no Counties but eleven Castles."
