5074 1953 Dawlish
GWR Castle 5074 Hampden on the Up 'Torbay Express' east of Dawlish in 1953.
Peter Kerslake says " The sea wall is deserted here at Dawlish on what looks like a dull and dismal day as 5074 heads to Padddington on the up "Torbay Express".
This duty was usually shared between Newton Abbot and Old Oak engines but 5074 was at Cardiff Canton the year after this view, spending later time at Landore, Neath, Llanelly and Cardiff East Dock before ending its days from Bristol in May 1964."
