70006 1960s Lancaster-ROneg-1805-115

Coming off the Castle Branch at the north end of Lancaster Castle station.

70006 " Robert Burns " entered service from London's Stratford Depot of the Eastern Region from being newly built in April of 1951 but was moved to Norwich the following month for just five months before returning back to Stratford in October of 1951.
That return to Stratford was ,however , for just a single month as all Stratford's " Britannias " were then transferred to Norwich in November 1951 in a move to concentrate all the Eastern Region's allocation at just a single Motive Power Depot .
A month later in December 1951 " Robert Burns " was sent to March Motive Power Depot when Norwich lost the whole of its allocation of " Britannias " , but there was little suitable work for them at their new home and many were very soon stored out of use in the open until the wholesale transfer of all the class to the Midland Region took place in late 1963 with 70006 going to Carlisle Kingmoor , from where she was later withdrawn in May of 1967 .
