Motor train 1962c Manchester Oxford Road

Motor train 1962c Manchester Oxford Road

The other photo of the train at Broadheath near Altrincham shows quite a few people at windows so my first thoughts were this may be a rail tour behind an Ivatt 2-6-2T but I can find no record of such.

The regular service from Warrington Bank Quay (Low Level) to Oxford Road (or extended to London Road) worked by Ivatt motor fitted tanks finished on 10th September 1962 when services on the line via Broadheath finished, this could well be very close to the last day.

The service was powered by one of the five Warrington Dallam allocated Ivatt tanks outbased at Arpley or occasionally either of the two BR standard tanks Nos 84000/1 allocated there.
