7823 1963c Welshpool

7823 Hook Norton Manor at Welshpool on a westbound train carrying an 84E Tyseley shedplate which dates it between November 1962 and withdrawal in July 1964. The paper Reporting Number indicates a WR train to the Shrewsbury District suggesting the picture was taken before January 1963 when the LMR took over. the Cambrian lines 7823, which did not make it into preservation, had been one of the additional Manors coming to the Cambrian system in the late-1950s.
In the background, the Victorian Gothic style station buildings at Welshpool are now just home to a retail outlet and with a basic B.R style of station shelter as its replacement.
