The last two Black Fives were almost unrecognisable from the standard engines, although their appearance was decidely better than that of the earlier Caprottis. It spent its early years at Longsight, moving to Monument Lane for just two weeks in May 1960 before transferring to Llandudno Junction from where it was withdrawn in October 1965. No.44686 was fitted with AWS in September 1961 which therefore dates this picture as 1960/61.
