The MR four-cylinder 0-10-0 Lickey banker No 2290 approaches Blackwell at the top of the Lickey Incline as it banks a northbound goods up from Bromsgrove in c1923. Some of the empty coal wagons heading home are from Stanton and Bradbury.
Peter Kerslake says "Captured in her younger days and doing just what she was designed for "Big Bertha" the favourite banking engine amongst the Bromsgrpve crews, is now easing off from having assisted this freight from the foot of the one in thirty seven gradient at Bromsgrove to the summit of the Lickey incline as Blackwell is now in sight. The banker will drop off after having passed through the station visible on the left and will run back down to Bromsgrove depot having crossed on to the down road on the cross over point work just out of shot of this splendid view. The cut away tender top provides the footplate men with a good view when running tender first."
