A Urie ‘Chonker’ H15 4-6-0 No 30486 rests at Eastleigh in the 1950s. This Class was the progenitor of the modern British 4-6-0 leading up to the BR Standard Class 5s of 1951.
No 30486 although not the first of it class numerically was actually the first one to enter traffic.
Built 1914; w/d July 1959.
