31425 1957-05-19 Eythorne, Kent

This was the SLS London, Chatham & Dover Rail Tour of 19th May 1957 from London Victoria to Folkestone and back. The main train ran from Victoria to Shepherds Well behind D1 No 31545 with Sam Gingell driving -reaching 80mph. Then two O1s Nos 31425/34 'top-n-tail' from there to Eyethorne (remaining stub of the East Kent Light Railway) and back, and from there to Fokestone. Next two R1s 31107/1337 from Folkestone Junction to the Harbour and return. Finally the D1 for the run back to Victoria. In this photograph the train is at Eyethorne having arrived from Shepherds Well.
