6226 1939-08-13 Crewe
What a fine sight streamlined 'Duchess of Norfolk' makes wearing her crimson lake livery as she heads a southbound express out of Crewe on Sunday 13th August 1939. With only two weeks to go before WW2 is declared, the days of such glories were now numbered. 6226 was built at Crewe in May 1938 and was withdrawn in Oct. 1964 as Br No. 46226.
