12254 1939 Sowerby Bridge
Found in an Isle of Man bookshop was an album of tiny 2x3 prints. Amongst them (and the only one that had a clear image) was this rare 1939 view of ex-L&YR Aspinall '27' class No. 12254 taken at Sowerby Bridge Station in Yorkshire's Calder Valley. It is heading a westbound train for Lancashire. 12254 was built at Horwich in Oct. 1894 as L&YR No. 47 and was withdrawn in January 1946 after 52 years service.
