Gresley O2 No 63946 dating from 1924 and built with the classic GNR cab profile sits at the rear of Thrumpton GC shed on 21 July 1963. It had been allocated there since the summer of 1961 coming from Grantham but had just been withdrawn from service in early April - the tender is still full of dreadful looking coal. It would soon be off to Doncaster Works for scrapping, indeed the last observation of her complete being on the 18th of the following month.
