Ex-LNER Gresley 'D49/2' class 4-4-0 No. 62774 'The Staintondale'. Built at Darlington in February 1935 as LNER No. 376 and withdrawn in November 1958. The former NER Starbeck MPD at Harrogate always had pride in the turn-out of their allocation of D49s. Looking to be no exception, 62774 is a splendid sight in the shed yard in June 1956. The Lentz rotary cam valve gear is clearly seen in this study. The Staintondale Hunt, located near Scarborough has origins in the 13th century and is still active.
