62749 1950s The Stray, Harrogate

The fleet of ex-LNER Gresley 'D4/2s' that were based at York and Harrogate (Starbeck) MPDs were principally used for fast and lightweight stopping trains betwwen York, Harrogate and Leeds. No 62749 is passing The Stray in Harrogate in the 1950s with a Leeds bound six-coach train, 'The Cottesmore' was built at Darlington in Aug. 1933 as LNER No. 297 and withdrawn in July 1958. A new station called Hornbeam Park was opened to serve the former ICI Fibres Div HQ site which is now an office park - called "Hornbeam Park". The Stray is about a mile closer to Harrogate station than this. MP 18 from Church Fenton visible to the left.
