61275 1960s Whitby Town
The east coast seaside resort and fishing port of Whitby remains a largely unchanged gem. The railway has lost its locomotive shed and its north-south connections, but it still has a great deal of charm with NYMR steam from Grosmont running into the station. This scene from the 1960s could easily be recreated in the 2020s. Ex-LNER Thompson 'B1' No. 61275 gently rolls in on a misty morning with a local stopping train. Built by NBL of Glasgow in January 1948, it was withdrawn in October 1965.
