63575 1950s Gorton

63575 1950s Gorton

Very much on 'home ground' at Gorton in Manchester, is this fine study of ex-Great Central Rly. Robinson 'O4/8' 63575. It had been rebuilt with a Thompson 100A boiler (as fitted to B1's). Of the many 'O4s' built, relatively few carried GCR numbers but 63575, built in Nov. 1912 was originally GCR No. 1228. It was withdrawn in Nov. 1962. p.s. Note the 12T 'Insul-Fish' refrigerated vans alongside.
