2759 1940s Strensall Common Lane Crossing

2759 1940s Strensall Common Lane Crossing

Decidedly lacking 'hi-viz' clothing, a PW gang are hard at work in the late 1940s at Common Lane, Strensall near York. A Gresley D49 No. 2759 'The Craven' passes by unconcernedly with an express heading for York from Yorkshire's east coast. 2759 was built at Darlington in Aug. 1934 and was withdrawn in Jan. 1961.
