61184 1953 Crowden

Crowden Station situated to the west of the Woodhead Tunnel in Longendale seems to have been seldom photographed. This 1953 view towards the end of steam working on the Woodhead route, sees Gorton's ex-LNER Thompson 'B1' 4-6-0 No. 61184 heading west with a stopping train for Manchester. 61184 was built by Vulcan Foundry in July 1947 as LNER No. 1184 and was withdrawn in Dec. 1962.
