60157 1961 Selby Barlby Junction
BR Peppercorn 'A1' 4-6-2 No. 60157 'Great Eastern' makes a stirring sight with a down express as it passes the BOCM mills at Barlby Junction just north of Selby in 1958. This large factory complex founded in 1909, produced animal feedstuffs and was served by internal lines (seen on the right) usually shunted by a 'Y1' class Sentinel loco. Both river and rail transported their products to destinations near and far. 60157 was built at Doncaster in Nov. 1949 and was withdrawn in Jan. 1965.
