30732 1953 Eastleigh

Ex-London & South Western Railway Drummond 'T9' class 4-4-0 No. 30732. Built by Dubs & Co. of Glasgow in December 1899 as L&SWR No. 732 and withdrawn in October 1959.

Out of the early evening sun, 30732 rolls into Eastleigh Station in 1953. The distinctive building on the right is that of 'Fairoak Dairy Produce Co.', whilst a stroll to the platform end has a sign still headed 'Southern Railway' some five years into the BR era! It forbids railwaymen to use the lines as a 'short cut' to Eastleigh loco yard. I wonder if...
