42366 1955-06 Topley Pike

42366 1955-06 Topley Pike

The Midland Railway had to accomplish some remarkable feats of bridge and tunnel engineering in order to thread its way across Derbyshire's glorious High Peak landscape. It looks as if this solitary coach behind ex-LMS Fowler '4P' 42366 at Topley Pike Box in Wye Dale may be a through coach to Buxton. The line on the right served Topley Pike Quarry. All this wonderful and dramatic railway through route would close in 1968. Photo dated June 1955.
