Apart from its missing numberplate, the commendable external appearance of ex-LNER Gresley V2 No. 60886 in March 1966 belies the fact that it is already withdrawn. Standing in the spring sunshine at York MPD it will soon be hauled away to Cashmore's Walsall scrapyard at Great Bridge. 60886 was built at Darlington in Nov. 1939 as LNER No. 4857 and was withdrawn (officially) in April 1966.
