Not recorded as complete until March 1954. A splendid picture of the third and last of the Southern Region's Diesel locomotives numbered 10203 under construction at Brighton Works , dated from 1953 .Whereas the two earlier examples had been constructed at Ashford , 10203 was completed here at Brighton in March of 1954 and was more powerful that her two sisters being equipped with the Mark Two sixteen cylinder English Electric power plant rated at 2000 horse power and producing 250 more horse power that of 10201 and 10202.Allocated from new to Nine Elms Depot , 10203 worked the Waterloo to Exeter Central services before being transferred away to Camden in July 1955 from where , together with her two sisters , she was rostered on express passenger duties on the West Coast main line before moving to Willesden .Later years saw all three former Southern Region locomotives spending lengthy periods out of service at Derby , with train heating boilers relegating them to freight duties in the Winter months before all three were withdrawn in February of 1968.
