Peter Kerslake says "An Oxford engine in the mid. fifties 1420 was sent to Gloucester Horton Road depot when its duties here in Devon came to an end as Gloucester was still operating the Chalford and Sharpness branch line services until 31st. October 1964 so had a need for "1400's".
1420 worked the Chalford line on that last day then went into store at the then closed former L.M.R.depot at Barnwood before being purchased and sent to Worcester Works for overhaul and being given a GWR livery.
On 17th. October 1965 it left Worcester, ran down to Bristol Bath Road depot for its open day before heading to the Dart Valley Railway where it resides today."
