At York station on Saturday, 15th August 1953, ex-North Eastern Railway W. Worsdell 'R' (LNER 'D20') class 4-4-0 No. 62374, built at Gateshead in October 1906 as NER No. 711, acts as pilot for an unidentified ex-LMS Ivatt '4MT' class 2-6-0 on a holiday express bound for the east coast, probably to Scarborough. It was withdrawn in October 1954.
