327 1930s York Station

327 1930s York Station

LNER Gresley 'D49' class 4-4-0 No. 327 'Nottinghamshire'. Built at Darlington in July 1928 and withdrawn in January 1961 as BR No. 62723.

Seen in the early 1930s and as originally fitted with a Westinghouse air braking pump, 'Nottinghamshire' is standing at the south end of York Station. The old York locomotive works is on the right behind the elegant gas lamp and is an unlikely place to advertise 'Lux' soap flakes!
