90094 1967-03-04 Royston & Notton Station
Anyone who knew the area around Royston (Yorkshire) in the 1960s would likely attest it was a place to "come from" rather than "go to". The reason being the sulphrous fumes permeating from the adjacent coking ovens and the many mountainous colliery spoil heaps that defaced the landscape. Passing through Royston & Notton Station (ex-MR) in March 1967 is Riddles 'WD' 90094 with another in the constant procession of coal trains that once plied the route. The station closed in Jan. 1968.
