90109 1959 Stockport

In 1957, major revisions to the road system adjacent to Stockport Edgeley Station (seen beyond the bridge) commenced. This resulted in the demolition of what had previously been tunnels to be replaced by road bridges. This work is still underway in this 1959 view with Riddles WD No. 90109 bringing bridge components to the site. 90109 was built by NBL of Glasgow in Apr. 1943 as WD No. 77010 and was withdrawn in May 1964. Striking, is the total lack of hi-viz clothing for the workforce!
