Darlington MPD has just received another locomotive in sparkling condition from the adjacent works after an overhaul. In this instance it's ex-LNER Thompson 'B1' 61025 'Pallah'. Now whilst we enthusiasts might now know what a 'Pallah' is (or indeed a 'Jairou', 'Inayala' etc.), did the traveling public? For the most part these were ridiculously obscure names that meant nothing to anyone! A personal opinion I confess. Photo dated September 1955.
