NER 779 1890s Edinburgh Waverley

NER 779 1890s Edinburgh Waverley

North Eastern Railway T.W.Wordell 'F' class 4-4-0 No. 779. Built at Gateshead in November 1887 and withdrawn in February 1930 as LNER No. 779.

A glorious 1890s portrait of 779 seen as originally built with 2-cylinder compound propulsion, it was rebuilt as a simple in Oct. 1902. The original pre-1896 stone arch bridge above the eastern end of Waverley Station provides a fine backdrop.
