North Eastern Railway Worsdell 'J' class 4-2-2 No. 1517. Built at Gateshead in August 1899 and withdrawn in March 1920. Seen ready to depart with an up train at York Station. Note the hansom cab loaded behind the loco interestingly it is not sheeted over for protection against sparks and soot.
