NER 908 1890 York MPD

The old wooden coaling stage at York North MPD is the setting for this lovely portrait of North Eastern Railway '901' class 2-4-0 No.908. The 55 locomotives in this class were a highly successful and well-liked Alfred Fletcher design. This 1874 Gateshead built locomotive received a new boiler in 1888 and was withdrawn in 1916. Classmate No.901 was preserved by the LNER in 'as built' condition with considerable detail differences.
