70017 1960s Winwick

What a fine panned shot of 70017 Arrow at speed and now far from its former Western Region metals and its earlier days allocated to Old Oak Common. The third of the Britannias to be allocated to the Western Region and the second at Old Oak when new in June1951 Arrow remained there until December1956 when a wholesale transfer of a total of ten of Old Oak and Laira Britannias took them down to Cardiff Canton, joining the five already at that Motive Power Depot. Two years later, in June, 1958, 70017 was moved over to the Midland Region at Kentish Town, followed by spells at Trafford Park, Willesden, Aston, Rugby, Llandudno, Crewe, Newton Heath and Carlisle Kingmoor, from where withdrawal came in September1966
