North British Railway (ex-Edinburgh & Glasgow Railway) 'E417' class 2-4-0 No. 354. Built at Cowlairs in 1862, transferred to NBR stock in 1865. Withdrawal date unknown. I

have already posted an alternative close-up view of No. 354 at Dundee taken at the same time but at a slightly different angle. This photograph includes the whole locomotive and tender. It also includes the driver in exactly the same 'stiff as a board' pose. Note the leather trousers years ahead of the trend, worn by a very 'hip' fireman!
