North British Railway Holme 'N' (LNER 'D35') class 4-4-0 No. 227. Built at Cowlairs in May 1896 and withdrawn in March 1920.

One of the famed 'West Highland Bogies' is captured at Fort William Station circa 1900. There seem to be plenty of potential passengers waiting on the Loch Linnhe jetty for the Skye ferry on what appears to be a typically murky Highland day.
